Mathematical logic is indisputable, yet, in these days of insanity, apparently mathematics is racist. Oh, and also created by white males hell-bent on being bullies. The concept that 2 plus 2 equals 4 is offensive to some and apparently, ”Math has “been used to educate children into different societal roles such as leadership/ruling class.”   

Well, all these years when I have seen 2 oranges on one side of a fruit bowl and two oranges on the other side I have deduced that I have 4 oranges is just white supremist patriarchy.

Who would have thought it? Maybe I didn't see the invisible lemon. Or the sour grape. I do wonder if this manipulation of mathematics has an ulterior motive. 

The debate itself was founded in George Orwell’s dystopian novel 1984. Citizens of a totalitarian state believe that 2 plus 2 equals 5 is because of government propaganda.

Laurie Rubel, who teaches math education at Brooklyn College, says that the idea of math being a cultural neutral is a “myth,” and that asking whether 2 plus 2 equals 4 “reeks of white supremacist patriarchy.”

Memo to self: Avoid Brooklyn College. 

It seems that one of the big problems is that if you are not mathematically inclined, you probably aren't going to be very good at maths. I myself was not very good with numbers, unless they had a dollar sign in front of them. In that case, I suddenly became rather gifted. 

I also seemed very talented when, as a child, my older brother was dishing out lollies from a lolly bag. ( a lolly is an Australian word for candy) Then, boy was I good with numbers if he tried to do a divvy up which gave him more than me or my other brother. 

I must add, that on those particular occasions, I did sense a certain male supremacy bullying going on. 

But back to maths and the point of this piece. 

According to these woke wankers,  “In practice, children placed in ‘low’ groups experience mathematics as an isolating act consisting of fact-driven low cognitive demand tasks and an absence of mathematics discourse opportunities,” the statement contends, attributing the condition to “a pervasive misguided belief that students must ‘master the basics’ prior to engaging with complex problems [sic] solving.”

I was a whizz kid in English, history, geography and being a smarty pants at school. I became very good at my time's table thanks to rote learning. 

 

Never once, due to my lack of interest in numbers unless they were preceded by a dollar sign, did I ever sit down and lament my societal isolation and sense of oppression.

Unless it was when my brother was counting lollies.

I can tell you that two lollies plus two lollies equals 4 lollies and the only way that someone can get 5 is if they were told about an invisible lemon or a sour grape.

But it is still only 4 lollies.

Maybe this is just another one of those invisible weapons that we hear so much about these days: the excuses used by lazy people for being too lazy to think for themselves.

We need to start focusing on the things we can see, not the things we are told to see. We need to start looking at the $ sign and considering the impact these invisible enemies, weapons and fears are having on our lives.

And, most important of all, we need to accept that the numbers only ever add up if we are looking at the reality of what sits in the bowl or lolly bag and not what someone TELLS us is there.

 

In finishing. I was passed this email from Malcolm Kirke and I thought it would be fun to share it with you today.

Somehow, it seemed rather relevant.

1+19+19+11+9+19+19+9+14+7  = 118%   So, one can conclude with mathematical certainty, that while  Hard  work and  Knowledge will get you close, and  Attitude will get you there, it's the  Bullshit and Ass  Kissing that will put you over the top.  

Now you know why politicians are where they are!

Maybe we need to send this on to the Politicians and they might stop dipping into the lolly bag, stop feeding us lemons and sour grapes and stick to the numbers? 

The numbers never lie.
