30th January marks the anniversary of the execution of King Charles 1 who lost his head back in 1649. As one person observed " King Charles I was his own worst enemy. Self-righteous, arrogant, and unscrupulous; he had a penchant for making bad decisions."
Well, fast forward nearly 400 years and it seems that our so called rulers have not learned a damned thing: they may not have lost their heads yet, but they have certainly lost their minds and most certainly have lost their way.
Poor old King Charlie was the bloke who alienated his people and sent Britain into Civil War. The English Monarchy was abolished and he had the dubious honour of being so hated that the People simply said " ENOUGH! "
It seems rather prophetic that his death all those years ago is about to be re written as a 2022 Hollywood movie ... only, this time, without the blood and the axe. Though the people and the emotional anger that is apparent throughout the western world is palpable. People in so many nations have had enough and protesters are calling " Off with their heads! ".
Do our leaders, our rulers, our politicians realise that they are within cooee of civil war?
Probably not.
January 30, 1649 was a bitterly cold day. Charles went to his execution wearing two heavy shirts so that he might not shiver in the cold and appear to be afraid. The following account of the event comes from an anonymous observer and begins as the doomed King addresses the crowd from the scaffold:
"As for the people, truly I desire their liberty and freedom as much as anybody whomsoever; but I must tell you that their liberty and freedom consist in having of government, those laws by which their life and their goods may be most their own. It is not for having share in government, sirs; that is nothing pertaining to them; a subject and a sovereign are clear different things. And therefore until they do that, I mean that you do put the people in that liberty, as I say, certainly they will never enjoy themselves. Sirs, it was for this that now I am come here. If I would have given way to an arbitrary way, for to have all laws changed according to the power of the sword, I needed not to have come here; and therefore I tell you (and I pray God it be not laid to your charge) that I am the martyr of the people. . ."
Which, to me says a great deal about the mentality of the ruling class. In plain English, he said that he was a cut above the people. That " they " need to be governed. That he considered himself somehow different to his subjects and that he was a martyr dying for love of his right to be a tyrant.
No wonder they chopped his head off.
But chopping off the head of old Charles didn't really do a damn thing.
Without the Monarch, all that happened was that a new ruling class emerged. politicians and bureaucrats. .They just got fatter and greedier and the removal of the monarchy simply created a void that they were eager to fill.
By 1653, Oliver Cromwell had become so infuriated that he gave his famous speech and declared " Go, get you out! Make haste! Ye venal slaves be gone! So! Take away that shining bauble there, and lock up the doors.
In the name of God, go! “
I wonder if perhaps our Canadian truckers and others around the world have had enough of the ruling class and we are having a 2022 moment and saying
" We have had a gutful of your lying, your greed and your oppression. Leave us alone! Just bugger off! "
I suspect that we are approaching the point of no return.
Where our governments have pushed us too far and we, the People, are ready to fight back:
I cannot help but blame the politicians, the leaders and the parliaments that have allowed and encouraged this destruction of my rights and my ability to make my own decisions.
If, heaven forbid, this turns out to be the thalidomide or asbestos of our time, to whom do we look for justice? It cannot be the drug companies. They have been let off scot-free to make billions. It cannot be the governments because they took the advice of health experts.
So will these health experts be on the chopping block or will they say that they were only doing as they were told by the governments who appointed them?
Or will they all get a dose of amnesia and be unable to remember, or recollect?
In the meantime, our nations are economically destroyed, our people emotionally, mentally and financially bankrupt and someone will sail in to take over and plunder our natural resources, our heritage and our culture and there will not be a damned thing we can do about it.
If I am wrong, you vaccinated people can all dance on my grave and chant " I told you so. " I will be long past caring. And so, I suspect, will you.
Oh and by the way, strange that this man was " cancelled ". Perhaps he told the truth too much and too often?
