I saw a comment online recently and thought to myself; " Now that is a brilliant question. More importantly, what a fantastic use of experience and knowledge.

Let me explain.

When I lived in South Korea, I always looked out for the yellow jackets at the airport.

The older retired veterans of the Korean War all spoke English. They were employed as meeters and greeters at the airport in Seoul so that people like me had a place to run to when we arrived.

Many a " yellow jacket " helped me over time as I struggled to find a connecting bus or train.

I have no idea if this is still the case ( it was 20 years ago when I was last in South Korea ) but what a fantastic thing it was.

The same could be said for the value adding of having homeless veterans living on base.

As one guy said " They could tell all sorts of war stories, help with training, etc."

IF there is vacant housing on bases, surely that housing should be used for veterans and not illegal aliens?
